Ilia Calderón Scholarship 202 Overview
Following the success of the Ilia Calderón Scholarship in previous years, One Young World has once again partnered with the Jang Calderón Family Foundation to support young Afro-descendant and Indigenous leaders who are leading innovative and impactful initiatives in Latin America and the Caribbean. The scholarship will select and fund the participation of two outstanding leaders, allowing them to attend the One Young World 2025 Summit in Munich, Germany. This summit provides a global platform for young leaders to engage with influential figures, share their ideas, and drive change in their communities.
Fellowship Benefits
Fees Covered: The scholarship covers all costs, including:
Access to the One Young World Summit 2025 in Munich
Hotel accommodation in a private room from 2 - 6 November 2025
Travel expenses to and from Munich (economy class)
Domestic travel costs to the airport (economy class)
Visa costs, if applicable
Transport between the Summit accommodation and the Summit venue
Catering (breakfast, lunch, and dinner)
Translation services from English to Spanish in plenary sessions and events
Eligibility Criteria
Age: Candidates must be aged 18 - 30 at the time of the One Young World Summit 2025 (3 - 6 November 2025).
Eligible Nationalities: Colombia, Venezuela, Dominican Republic, Haiti, Panama, Honduras, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Mexico, Nicaragua, Antigua and Barbuda, Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Cuba, Dominica, Guyana, Grenada, Jamaica, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Suriname, Trinidad and Tobago, Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Ecuador, Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay, Brazil.
Evaluation Criteria: Candidates will be evaluated based on:
Commitment and potential benefits for their communities or territories
Relevance and impact of the initiatives they lead or participate in
Demonstrated capacity for leadership
Addressing key local and/or global issues in their community or territories
Track record of generating impactful and innovative ideas
Motivation to participate in One Young World

Submit Application: Candidates must submit their application online by filling the online application form by 13 April 2025.
Evaluation and Selection: Applications will be reviewed, and selected scholars will be notified.
