If you are a journalist in Ghana early to mid-career, passionate about how mining, oil & gas, green minerals, climate change, and sustainable development intersect, the Africa Extractives Media Fellowship (AEMF) is now accepting applications. The Fellowship offers a six-month immersive training programme (October 2025 – April 2026) to deepen skills in covering extractives, with mentorship, field reporting, and strong networking opportunities.

🌐 Fellowship Overview

The AEMF is a six-month in-person fellowship in Accra, Ghana, intended to equip journalists with the tools and expertise to report credibly and deeply on extractive industries. Key components include:

  • Expert-led training sessions to build both technical and thematic reporting skills.

  • Mentorship from leaders in the extractives, journalism, climate, energy transition and governance sectors.

  • Field reporting allowing fellows to engage directly on the ground and produce stories or investigations that reflect real conditions.

  • Networking opportunities with stakeholders (government, industry, civil society) to deepen context, possibly access sources, and build credibility.

✅ Eligibility Criteria

To qualify, you must:

  • Be a journalist based in Ghana, working in print, broadcast, digital, or multimedia media.

  • Be in the early- to mid-career stage.

  • Have a strong interest in extractives, climate change, energy transition, or sustainable development.

  • Be available for the full duration (October 2025 to April 2026) for in-person engagements in Accra.

  • Women are especially encouraged to apply.
