The Cambridge Centre for Alternative Finance (CCAF) at the University of Cambridge is inviting interns to join its AI Research Team and contribute to a landmark global study examining how artificial intelligence is reshaping the financial ecosystem.

📌 Internship Summary

  • Location: Remote worldwide (onsite option at Cambridge possible)

  • Host Institution: Cambridge Centre for Alternative Finance, part of Cambridge Judge Business School

  • Duration: 3–6 months (extension possible)

  • Start Date: Immediate

  • Commitment:

    • Part‑time: 20 hours/week

    • Full‑time: 37.5 hours/week ranges up to 800 GBP/month reimbursement for full-time

🧠 Intern Responsibilities

  • Map the global AI-in-finance ecosystem and conduct stakeholder outreach

  • Carry out literature reviews and regulatory summaries

  • Gather and analyse secondary data, supporting hypothesis validation

  • Collaborate with the data analytics team on data processes

  • Assist interviewer-led stakeholder interviews as a notetaker

  • Contribute to report writing, data visualization, and dissemination of research outputs


You’ll be aligned with one thematic research area based on your interests and experience:

  1. AI solution providers to financial institutions

  2. Central banks and financial regulators

  3. Fintech companies and traditional financial sector players

✅ Eligibility & Ideal Candidate

You should have:

  • A bachelor's (or higher) degree in finance, economics, statistics, technology, or related fields—final-year students with strong writing portfolios may be considered

  • Knowledge or experience with AI in finance operations or regulation

  • Strong analytical, communication, and research skills; proficient in Microsoft Office suite

  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a dispersed learning environment

  • Initiative, self-motivation, time-management capability, and stakeholder engagement skills
