  • Eligible To: Black or Coloured South African nationals residing in South Africa, under age 34, with at least a 2nd-class upper-division first degree (or pending graduation), studying Honours or Master’s in one of the eligible fields

Administered by Canon Collins Trust in collaboration with the Tom Queba Memorial Fund and Pegasys, these scholarships are designed for individuals whose academic pursuits directly advance social or environmental betterment among South Africa’s most disadvantaged communities. The initiative builds on Tom Queba’s legacy—a transportation leader whose memory continues through this scholarship—and Pegasys’s mission to support transformative development.

Scholarship recipients also benefit from leadership development opportunities, conferences, and integration into a dedicated social change network.

✅ Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must:

  1. Be a Black or Coloured South African national, ordinarily resident in South Africa

  2. Be under 34 years old when their course begins

  3. Hold (or be completing) a good first degree (minimum second-class, upper division)

  4. Plan to enroll in or be currently enrolled in Honours or Master’s study at a South African university

  5. Pursue a field that contributes to social or environmental development, benefiting South Africa’s poorest communities

  6. Ensure all application materials are original, as any use of AI tools (like ChatGPT or Bard) is strictly prohibited and results in immediate disqualification

📝 Application Procedure

  • Applications open from 4 August 2025 and close on 2 September 2025, at 17:00 South African time

  • Apply via the Canon Collins Trust official portal

  • Include academic transcripts (and, where needed, translations) and any other documents specified in the guidelines (downloadable on the site)

  • Early submission is strongly recommended, due to potential portal overload near the deadline


📆 Timeline & Results

  • Application Period: 4 August – 2 September 2025

  • Interviews: Shortlisted candidates will be interviewed in October–November 2025

  • Final Decisions: Applicants will be notified via email in December 2025
