🎓 Fellowship Summary

Secondary-school level education media and curricula in post-conflict or transitional societies
Also open to those combining scholarship with grassroots work, practitioners in NGOs, government, journalism etc.
Value & Coverage:
Monthly stipend of €3,300 for the fellowship period
Return economy airfare to Germany
Support with administrative matters and publication work provided by program coordinators
Duration: Normally six months stay in Brunswick; minimum period is three months in exceptional cases

🧭 Fellowship Overview
Designed to promote education for sustainable peace, especially via educational media and curricula in secondary schools in societies recovering from conflict or undergoing transitions.
Aims to bridge theory and practice, fostering scholarly exchange and producing tangible products (policy papers, teaching materials, research publications) useful for conflict resolution, civil-society actors etc.
During the fellowship, the Fellow will be embedded at GEI in Brunswick, interacting with researchers and practitioners in GEI’s network.
The Fellowship includes obligations such as participating in GEI’s daily working life, presenting at GEI’s research colloquium, helping in design/conceptualization of the annual Georg Arnhold Summer Conference in collaboration with program coordinator.
The outputs of the Fellow’s project must be published no later than one year after the fellowship ends.

Stipend: €3,300 per month during the fellowship period for 3-6 months.
Travel: Round-trip economy-class airfare to Germany.
Institutional Support: Administrative support and help with publication work (editing, coordination) from GEI coordinators.

✅ Eligibility Criteria
At least five years of advanced professional experience in peace education or related field.
Demonstrated outstanding academic or professional achievement.
Scholar or practitioner status acceptable; fields can include humanities, political/social sciences, education sciences, law, journalism, NGOs, government etc.
Excellent English skills.
Project firmly located in peace education, preferably with a focus on educational media, curricula, in transitional/post-conflict contexts.
📝 Application Procedure
How to apply: Fill out the online application form; the project must be summarized in up to 1,000 words using guiding questions provided.
Pre-selection: GEI internal review by academic experts; up to 10 applications will be forwarded to the Academic Advisory Board.
Shortlist stage: Advisory Board selects top 3 candidates.
Full proposal: The 3 shortlisted submit full proposal (including CV, list of publications, detailed project plan, evidence of impact). Maximum length ~25 pages including references.
Interview: Shortlisted candidates will be interviewed online by the Academic Advisory Board during their annual meeting.
Decision: Final selection takes place after interview.

The Georg Arnhold Program (since 2013) was established by Henry H. Arnhold in memory of his grandfather Georg Arnhold. It is designed to strengthen the link between theory and practice in peace education.
Outputs are expected to feed into policy, educational practice, civil society — not just academic publication.
Applicants are responsible for their passport, visa, health insurance for the stay in Germany.
