The 2025 Huayu Enrichment Scholarship (HES) Program, sponsored by the Ministry of Education of the Republic of China (Taiwan), provides a fantastic opportunity for international students to immerse themselves in Mandarin language and Taiwanese culture. Applications are open from February 1 to March 31, 2025.

HES Scholarship Overview
The Huayu Enrichment Scholarship aims to promote Mandarin language learning and cultural exchange. It supports students who wish to attend recognized Mandarin Language Centers in Taiwan for a duration ranging from three to twelve months. Recipients will receive a monthly stipend of NT$25,000, covering tuition, books, rent, and living expenses.

Financial Support: Monthly stipend of NT$25,000 to cover tuition fees, living expenses, books, and rent.
Duration Flexibility: Study periods of 3, 6, 9, or 12 months.
Cultural and Language experience: Access to prestigious Mandarin Language Centers and the vibrant culture of Taiwan.
⚠️ NOTE: Students are advised to prepare an additional fund of USD 3,000 for initial expenses such as housing and tuition pre-payment. Scholarships are forfeited if recipients fail to arrive in Taiwan and register at their designated centers by the deadline.
HSE Scholarship Eligibility Criteria
Applicants Must:
Be a citizen of Hungary, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, or Kosovo.
Be 18 years old or above.
Possess a high school diploma or above
Hold an outstanding academic record and good moral character.
Applicants Cannot:
Be an overseas Chinese student or citizen of the R.O.C. (Taiwan).
Be currently registered at any Taiwanese educational institution or have previously received an HES or Taiwan Scholarship.
Be exchange students in Taiwan during the scholarship period.
Receive financial assistance from the Taiwanese government or any Taiwanese educational institution.
### **Application Procedure**
1. Apply to a Mandarin Language Center: Applicants must first apply for the Mandarin courses in one of the language centers (Download and see Appendix 2).
2. Submit the Scholarship Application Online:
Applicants should then apply for the scholarship program online the official application portal. The application system is open from February 1 to March 31, 2025.
3. Prepare and Submit Documents:
Submit the following documents to the Taipei Representative Office in Hungary by post or in person no later than March 31, 2025.
Address: (Rákóczi street 1-3, Budapest 1088, Hungary)
Completed HES application form (printed from the online system).
Photocopy of passport or proof of citizenship.
Copies of the highest academic degree/certificate and transcripts.
Proof of application to a Mandarin Language Center (e.g., application form, fee payment receipt).
Signed Terms of Agreement (Appendix 3).
Two recommendation letters from professors, instructors, or supervisors.
TOCFL certificate (if available, for priority consideration).
ℹ️ Ensure the envelope is postmarked. Applicants can also choose to deliver the application package to the Office in person by March 31, 2025.
4. Selection Process:
The Taipei Representative Office will review applications based on achievements, motivation, and potential for success.
