Kabale University, in collaboration with Mountains of the Moon University (MMU), is inviting applications for this scholarship under the project titled "Strengthening Smallholder Farmer Resilience to Climate Change through Joint Learning, Development, and Evaluation of Contextualised Solutions (SFR2CC)." This initiative aims to empower scientists to develop innovative on-farm water management solutions, enhancing the resilience of smallholder farmers in Uganda's Rwenzori and Kigezi highland regions.

🌱 Scholarship Overview
The SFR2CC project is a collaborative effort supported by the Water and Development Partnership Programme of the Kingdom of the Netherlands. Implemented in the Rwenzori and Kigezi highland regions, the project brings together Kabale University, MMU, Kigezi Women in Development (KWID), and Joint Effort to Save the Environment (JESE). Its primary goal is to bridge the gap between higher education and smallholder farmers by developing contextualized solutions to climate change challenges.
🧩 Key components of the project include:
Curriculum Development: Creating a community-driven, interdisciplinary Master's program at MMU and reviewing the MSc program at Kabale University to address smallholder water management challenges.
Gender-Responsive Research: Establishing a research agenda that promotes participatory, action-oriented research on water management.
Innovation Testing: Co-developing and testing farm water management innovations suited to the local context.
Stakeholder Engagement: Establishing platforms for multi-stakeholder engagement to facilitate knowledge exchange between science, policy, and practice.
🎁 Scholarship Benefits
Tuition Coverage: Full tuition fees for the MSc in Environment and Natural Resources at Kabale University.
Additional Expenses: Coverage of other expenses as outlined in the admission letter.
Duration: Two academic years (August 2025 – October 2027).
Inclusivity: At least 40% of scholarships are reserved for female applicants and those from disadvantaged backgrounds.

Basic Requirements:
Nationality: Ugandan nationals and permanent residents.
Age Limit: Under 35 years (male) or under 40 years (female).
Academic Qualification: Second-class upper or better degree in Environmental, Biological, Agricultural, or Natural Sciences (or equivalent).
Admission: Must have an admission letter to the MSc Environment and Natural Resources program at Kabale University.
