Study Level: Master’s program, professional degrees, or the first year of a five-year doctoral program

Monthly stipend: approx. ¥150,000–¥220,000 (paid monthly, subject to enrollment confirmation and attendance)

📚 Program Overview
The AFLSP was launched by BXAI in 2014 to foster cross-cultural understanding and leadership development across Asia. Kyoto University is one of eight partner institutions. The AFLSP at Kyoto includes:
A two-year prestigious scholarship covering living costs, tuition, and admission
A professional enrichment program featuring:
Service Learning (immersive cultural trip within Japan)
Leadership Training workshops
Team-Project Based Research (T-PBR) in East Asia/international relations

✅ Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must meet all of the following:
Demonstrate alignment with BXAI’s mission—strong integrity, intercultural interest, leadership potential, and regional/global mindset
Citizenship from one of the eligible countries listed above, with “Student” residency status in Japan (Japanese dual citizens not eligible)
Under 35 years old at time of application
High English proficiency (TOEFL iBT ~90 or equivalent) and strong presentation skills
Meet one of:
Have passed Kyoto University April 2026 entrance exam, or
Be enrolled in or have graduated from a designated university (in Asia), AND plan to take the entrance exam for April 2026 admission
Plan to enroll as a full-time graduate student at Kyoto University from April 2026 and maintain enrollment during scholarship term
Have a recommendation letter from a supervising professor or equivalent
Never received AFLSP before
Need financial support
Be in sound health, with high moral standards and excellent academic record
Not hold other third-party scholarships or funding
Not hold paid employment (unless permitted) during scholarship
Be able to participate in BXAI/KU scholar events and programs during scholarship
