📚 Scholarship overview

This scholarship belongs to the Chinese Government Scholarship program (Type B, High-Level Postgraduate) administered through the China Scholarship Council (CSC) in collaboration with Nanjing University. Its aim is to enable talented students from all over the world to study and conduct research in China, strengthening educational exchange, cultural understanding, and cooperation.

Under this scheme, Nanjing University receives nominations from CSC and evaluates candidates through departmental assessments. Successful applicants receive pre-admission letters from NJU and are then formally nominated through CSC’s system before final scholarship allocation.

The scholarship requires full-time residency on campus, no long-distance or part-time study, and limited leave during regular academic terms (except under emergency approval).

Annual reviews are conducted (typically between March and May) to assess performance, research progress, and adherence to regulations. Students failing the review risk suspension or cancellation of the scholarship.

👌🏻 Tips, cautions & strategic advice

  • Start preparing well in advance: gathering recommendation letters, transcripts, and language test scores takes time.

  • Ensure your documents are consistent across NJU portal and CSC portal—mismatches can lead to disqualification.

  • Be honest and transparent: any falsification may disqualify you or bar you from future applications.

  • For the personal statement, integrate how your research interests align with Nanjing University’s departments, and why you choose China as your study destination.

  • If applying to Chinese-taught programs, aim to strengthen your HSK score; for English programs, make sure your English tests meet the requirement.

  • Monitor the auditing / annual review required by NJU—poor performance or violation of regulations may lead to cancellation of funding.

  • Double-check deadlines—especially the March 17 CSC submission, which is critical for final nomination.

  • After admission, plan visa / travel logistics early, and ensure you understand the requirements for registration in China.
