Eligibility Criteria
Have or expect to have a Master's Degree before enrollment.
Be under 35 years of age as of April 1st, 2025
A national of a country that has diplomatic relations with the Japanese Government.
Have excellent academic achievements.
Have a proof of one’s English language proficiency, such as an indicative minimum score of English language proficiency test taken within the past 2 year. (72 for TOEFL (IBT)/5.5 for IELTS or equivalent to CEFR B2 Level).
Be residing outside Japan at the time of application and not a holder of Japanese nationality.
Be able to arrive in Japan on a date designated by Saitama University in the end of September 2025.
Not an awardee of the Japanese Government Scholarship during the last three years

To Apply for The MEXT PhD Scholarship at Saitama University, follow below steps:

Official Transcript of records
Official Certificate of Graduation or Expected Graduation
Abstract of thesis written for most recent academic degree awarded (MUST be a brief summary (no more than one A4 page)
Copy of passport
Certificate of English Proficiency
➢ NOTE: One of the letters must be from the Dean, or a person of equivalent or higher position, at the applicant’s school or institution. The other letter can be from your supervisor or a person of equivalent.
Your recommenders must email the letter directly to the Foreign Student Office.(rese@gr.saitama-u.ac.jp)

Send the documents above to the Foreign Student Office before the deadline.Firstly, by email (rese@gr.saitama-u.ac.jp), then by International Postal Services such as EMS.
