The Schulich Leader Scholarships are Canada's most prestigious undergraduate STEM scholarships. Established by philanthropist Seymour Schulich, these scholarships aim to support entrepreneurial-minded students pursuing degrees in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) at 20 partner universities across Canada.

 

Schulich Leader Scholarships 2025 Key details

1. Scholarship Value:

  • $120,000 for engineering students

  • $100,000 for science and math students.


2. Eligibility:

High school graduates enrolling in a STEM program at one of the partner universities. Each high school in Canada can nominate one graduating student annually.


3. Selection Criteria:

4. Application Process:

Students must be nominated by their high school, submit a comprehensive application, and provide reference letters, transcripts, and essays.

Eligibility Criteria

  1. Graduation Year: Must be graduating from a Canadian high school or CEGEP in the 2024/2025 academic year.

  2. Citizenship: Must be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident.

  3. Study field: Plan to enroll in an eligible STEM program at one of the partner universities.

  4. Academic Excellence: Must demonstrate academic excellence.

  5. Entrepreneurial Mindset: Must exhibit leadership, charisma, and creativity.

  6. Financial Need: Strong consideration will be given to students with financial need.

  7. Career Intentions: Intend to pursue a career in technology, engineering, entrepreneurship and business enterprise, or applied scientific research.

 

General Application Procedure

Application Process for Schulich Leader Scholarships goes through below process.

1. Nomination by High School or CEGEP:

  • Each high school and CEGEP in Canada can nominate one graduating student per year.

  • Schools select students based on academic excellence, leadership, charisma, creativity, and entrepreneurial mindset.


2. Submission of Application:

  • Nominated students must complete an online application form available on the Schulich Leader Scholarships website.

  • The application form typically requires personal information, academic records, and details about extracurricular activities.


3. Supporting Documents:

  • Submit reference letters from teachers, school administrators, or community leaders who can attest to the student’s qualifications and character.

  • Provide official high school or CEGEP transcripts.

  • Write and submit essays that detail the student's achievements, aspirations, and entrepreneurial mindset.


4. Application Review:

  • The applications are reviewed by a selection committee at each of the 20 partner universities.

  • The committee evaluates the applications based on the selection criteria: academic excellence, leadership qualities, creativity, and financial need.


5. Selection of Schulich Leaders:

  • Each partner university selects their Schulich Leaders from the pool of nominees.

  • Selected students are notified.


6. Acceptance and Enrollment:

  • Awardees must accept the scholarship and confirm their enrollment in a STEM program at the chosen partner university.

  • They must meet all admission requirements of the university and maintain good academic standing.
