The Allan and Nesta Ferguson Scholarships are offered for students who are residents of low income or lower middle income countries (as defined by the World Bank) and preferably from low income households.
Scholarship Benefits
Participants in the Allan and Nesta Ferguson Scholarships program will receive:
Full Tuition Coverage: The scholarship covers the full tuition fees for the one-year Master's program.
Stipend: A stipend of £32,500 to help cover living expenses in London.
ℹ️ What is not covered?
The scholarship does not include maintenance support or accommodation costs. The costs of living in London will need to be considered by applicants before applying for this award.
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for the Allan and Nesta Ferguson Scholarships, applicants must meet the following criteria:
Residency: Must be a resident in low-income or lower middle-income countries (as defined by the World Bank) and preferably from low-income households.
Education: Must have graduated from a recognized institution with an undergraduate degree at the first-class level.
Financial Need: Must demonstrate financial need.
Admission offer: Must have unconditional or conditional offer to study for a full-time, one-year taught Master's program at SOAS by the time of the scholarship panel stage.
English Language: Must meet the English language condition of their offer of admission to study at SOAS.
Application Procedure

The assessment will be based on the information in your scholarship application and your admission application to study at SOAS. Selectors will look at undergraduate GPA, financial need, statement of intent, and other relevant information.
4. Notification:
The scholarship shortlisting and awarding period is expected to be completed by the end of April 2025. Successful candidates will be contacted first, and once all awards have been allocated, the unsuccessful candidates will be notified.
