Positions Overview
The QTLab at Chalmers' Department of Microtechnology and Nanoscience (MC2) is at the forefront of research in quantum computing, sensing, transduction, thermodynamics, and foundational studies. By manipulating matter at the quantum level, the lab explores innovative methods to process information beyond classical limitations. As part of the Wallenberg Center for Quantum Technology, QTLab provides an international and dynamic research environment, equipped with state-of-the-art facilities, including an excellent cleanroom at the Nanofabrication Laboratory. The following four positions are available.
1. Lab Software Development for the Quantum Sensing and Foundations Lab
Description: Develop Python-based data acquisition software, including writing measurement drivers and implementing multi-instrument measurement functions. Potential involvement in real-time read-out and control of nanomechanical resonators using FPGA.
Qualifications:
Experience with Python and Git
Meritorious:
Object-oriented programming and instrument control

2. Superconducting Cavity Plating
Description:
Investigate how plating the cavity around a distributed Al/Si superconducting resonator with a superconducting metal affects the Q-factor of the resonator. Utilize FEM simulations and modeling to study plating techniques, superconductor properties, and cavity geometry.
Qualifications:
MSc student in electrical engineering, physics, or quantum technology
Meritorious:
Experience in microwave theory

3. Optimization of CZ Gates in a 25 Qubit Device
Description
Extend existing software to define missing operations for CZ gate calibration. Investigate the performance of running multiple CZ gates in parallel, evaluate fidelity across various scenarios, and analyze cross-talk effects.

4. Integrated Superconducting Bias Tee
Description:
Develop a superconducting bias tee for integration into nearly quantum-limited amplifier and DC low-pass filter modules. Collaborate on parameter identification, design, and simulation, including PCB and chip design.
Qualifications:
MSc courses in microwave engineering
Meritorious:
Experience in microwave measurements, modeling, and PCB design
