The University of Eldoret (UoE), in partnership with the Regional Universities Forum for Capacity Building in Agriculture (RUFORUM) and the Mastercard Foundation, has officially opened applications for the TAGDev 2.0 Scholarship Programme for the 2026/2027 academic year. This fully funded scholarship covers undergraduate and postgraduate programmes and is designed to produce the next generation of African agricultural champions — graduates who don't just find jobs, but create them.

📚 Scholarship Overview

TAGDev 2.0 — Transforming African Agricultural Universities to Meaningfully Contribute to Africa's Growth and Development — is a 10-year programme (2023–2033) implemented across 12 African universities in partnership with RUFORUM and the Mastercard Foundation. At the University of Eldoret, the scholarship is part of a continent-wide effort to build a pipeline of technically skilled, community-embedded graduates capable of driving Africa's agricultural transformation.

TAGDev 2.0 is not just a financial scholarship — it's a holistic transformation programme. Scholars benefit from:

Additional Support for Refugees, Displaced Persons & PWDs

  • RDPs receive support with travel documents

  • PWDs receive assistive devices to support learning and movement throughout their studies


✅ Eligibility Criteria

To qualify, applicants must meet all of the following:

  • Be a national of Kenya or an East African Community country (Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda, Burundi, South Sudan)

  • Come from an economically disadvantaged, marginalized, or conflict-affected background

  • Be under 30 years old (undergraduate) or under 35 years old (master's) at the time of the call

  • Have completed secondary school/diploma for a Bachelor's application not more than 2 years before the call (up to 4 years for refugees and IDPs)

  • Meet the specific admission requirements of the chosen programme at UoE (minimum KCSE grade of C+ for undergraduate)

  • Demonstrate a genuine interest in agriculture, agribusiness, and entrepreneurship

  • Show leadership qualities and commitment to community transformation

  • Not currently hold any other scholarship — double scholarship holders will be automatically discontinued

Undergraduate

BEd Home Science Technology

  • Minimum mean grade of C+ at KCSE or equivalent higher diploma from a recognized institution

  • Minimum C+ in two teaching subjects

  • Minimum C (plain) in English

  • Minimum D+ in Mathematics

BSc. Entrepreneurship

  • Mean grade of C+ at KCSE with C in Mathematics and English; OR

  • Two Principals and one subsidiary pass in KACE plus a pass in Maths and English at 'O' level; OR

  • Two-year Diploma in Business Management from UoE or KNEC with at least a credit (entry into 2nd year); OR

  • One-year diploma from institutions recognized by UoE Senate (e.g. KIM, ABE, CIM, CIPS) — entry into 1st year; OR

  • CPA/CPS (KASNEB) holder — entry into 2nd or 3rd year; OR

  • Diploma or Higher Diploma in a relevant discipline — entry into 2nd or 3rd year

BSc. Agribusiness Management

  • Mean grade of C+ at KCSE with C in Mathematics or Physics, and C in Biology, Agriculture, Chemistry, Biological Sciences, or Physical Sciences; OR

  • Diploma or Higher Diploma in a relevant discipline from a recognized institution

BSc. Agroforestry & Rural Development

Postgraduate:

MSc. Computer Science

  • Minimum Second Class Honours (Upper Division) degree in a relevant field from a recognized university; OR

  • Second Class Honours (Lower Division) with at least 2 years of relevant working experience

MSc. Agricultural Extension Education

  • Second Class Honours (Upper Division) or equivalent from a recognized institution; OR

  • Second Class Honours (Lower Division) with at least 2 years of relevant experience

  2. Register and activate your account (check spam/junk folder for the activation email)

  3. Log in and navigate to Calls → Scholarship Calls

  6. Download, print, and attach the completed form to your university admission application
