Location: University of Oxford, United Kingdom
Host Institution: Rhodes Trust & University of Oxford
Study Level: Postgraduate (Master’s, DPhil, or a Second BA with Senior Status)
Target Group: Citizens or legal residents of South Africa, Botswana, Lesotho, Malawi, Namibia, or eSwatini
Fields of Study: All full-time postgraduate courses offered at the University of Oxford
Funding: Fully funded – includes tuition, living stipend, visa, airfare, and more
Award Duration: Typically 2 years (can be extended for certain DPhil programmes)

🧾 Scholarship Overview
The Rhodes Scholarships are awarded annually to ten exceptional candidates from Southern Africa:
Eight scholarships for South Africa-at-Large
One scholarship for KwaZulu-Natal
One scholarship for the BLMNS region (Botswana, Lesotho, Malawi, Namibia, and eSwatini)
Scholarship holders will undertake full-time postgraduate study at Oxford in any field. The selection process is rigorous and emphasizes not only academic achievement but also leadership potential, commitment to service, and character strength.

✅ Eligibility Criteria
To qualify, you must:
Be a citizen or legal resident of South Africa, Botswana, Lesotho, Malawi, Namibia, or eSwatini
Have been resident in one of these countries for at least 5 of the last 10 years
Meet age requirements:
Generally 19–24 years (born between 2 Oct 2001 and 1 Oct 2007)
Up to 28 years for those who completed their undergraduate degree later or are in medical/community service
Have completed (or be due to complete) an undergraduate degree by July 2026
Demonstrate academic excellence, typically with:
First Class Honours or equivalent
GPA of 3.7/4.0 or higher
Be proficient in English (Oxford language requirements may apply)
