ℹ️ Scholarship Overview
The Global Healthcare Leaders Scholarship is specifically designed to reward those who not only excel academically but also show strong leadership potential in healthcare. It’s not just about being a top student — the scholarship is for future change-makers in the health sector. Applicants are asked to write a 500-word essay that describes how they plan to make a positive impact in healthcare.
Because the number of scholarships is limited, early application is encouraged. Winners are chosen throughout the admissions cycle, but applying in Round 1 (January) may give you a better chance.
💲 Scholarship Benefits
Tuition support: £10,000 or £15,000 toward your tuition (depending on your fee status)
Visibility and networking: As a scholar, you’re expected to help GBSH with recruitment — via student ambassador roles, webinars, attending events, writing, etc. This is not just a financial award — it’s also a platform.
Professional development: Being part of this cohort connects you with peers, faculty, and industry leaders in global health and healthcare management, giving you a strong network for your future career.

To be eligible for this scholarship, you need to:
Be applying for one of the specified MSc programmes (see section above).
Demonstrate academic excellence.
Show exceptional leadership potential, especially in the context of global health.
Submit a 500-word essay detailing how you plan to make a difference in healthcare.
Be based either in the UK or overseas — both are eligible.

Selection: The scholarship selection panel reviews applications based on merit (academic + leadership) using the materials you submit via your online scholarship application.
📝 Key Terms & Conditions
The scholarship is only for the intake year stated (2026); you cannot defer it to another year.
If you withdraw from your program before finishing, you may have to repay the scholarship. Exceptions might be made for serious illness or family loss, but that’s reviewed on a case-by-case basis.
As a scholarship recipient, you’ll need to support the GBSH Marketing & Recruitment team by participating in student ambassador activities like blogging, webinars, testimonials, and possibly attending events.
🤔 Why This Scholarship Matters
Leadership-focused: Unlike many scholarships which are purely merit- or need-based, this one prizes leadership potential. That means UCL is looking for students who are ready to shape the future of healthcare — not just study it.
Strategic value: The MSc courses eligible (Analytics, Finance, Leadership, Digital Health, Biotech) are all very relevant to the modern challenges in global health — UCL is investing in the kinds of professionals who can navigate digital transformation, financing models, biotech, and systems leadership.
Network & visibility: As a scholar, you become part of UCL’s healthcare leadership ecosystem, giving you exposure, credibility, and connections — very valuable for future roles in health systems, consulting, policy, or industry.
