📚 Fellowship Overview
The Warburg/I Tatti Joint Fellowship is a residential program designed to support original research on topics related to the Italian Renaissance. Fellows will spend the Fall Term (September–December 2026) at the Warburg Institute in London and the Spring Term (January–June 2027) at Villa I Tatti in Florence. During both terms, fellows are expected to conduct their research using the resources available in the respective cities and participate actively in the academic life of each institution.
Warburg Institute (London):
Fellows will be provided with a workspace within the Institute and an academic supervisor for the duration of their stay.
Access to the Warburg Institute Library, Photographic Collection, and Archive.
Engagement in the Institute's vibrant intellectual community, including opportunities to present research and contribute to publications.
Villa I Tatti (Florence):
Fellows will have access to the Biblioteca Berenson seven days a week and lunch with other appointees from Monday through Friday.
A reserved desk or carrel in the Biblioteca Berenson.
Participation in and contribution to the activities at Villa I Tatti.
🎁 Fellowship Benefits
Financial Support: Monthly stipends of £3,000 (Warburg Institute) and USD 5,200 (Villa I Tatti), plus a one-time relocation supplement of up to USD 1,800.
Accommodation: When available, rent-free housing with utility charges; if not, a housing subsidy to offset rental costs.
Research Facilities: Access to extensive libraries, archives, and academic resources at both institutions.

✅ Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must hold a PhD at the time of application and must not be working on a second PhD.
A solid background in Italian Renaissance Studies is required.
Proficiency in English is mandatory; a reading knowledge of Italian is also required.
The proposed research project should be original and not a revision of a doctoral dissertation.
Priority will be given to applicants with no previous association with either I Tatti or the Warburg Institute.
The fellowship may not be held concurrently with another fellowship or award.
