If you’re a 2L, 3L JD, LLM, or JSD student at Washington University School of Law—interested in AI, legal innovation, and public impact—applications for the 2025 WashU Law AI Fellowship Program are now open. Hosted by the WashU Law AI Collaborative, this non‑remunerated, part‑time (3–5 hrs/week) fellowship offers hands‑on support in programming, research, CLE development, publications, and community outreach—all aimed at shaping the future of law in the age of AI.
🎯 Fellowship Summary
Location: Washington University in St. Louis School of Law, St. Louis, Missouri, USA.
Host Institution: WashU Law AI Collaborative (a cross-disciplinary hub within WashU Law).
Study Level: Current WashU Law students only—2L or 3L JD, LLM, or JSD.
Target Group: WashU Law students with strong writing and research skills and a collaborative mindset. No prior technical experience required.
Fields / Focus: Legal technology, AI ethics and policy, legal innovation, algorithmic bias, CLE programming, faculty and student thought leadership.
Award Value & Coverage: Unpaid fellowship—no stipend or tuition support. Participants gain public recognition and visibility on WashU Law’s AI platform.
Duration: 2025 academic year (fall–spring), flexible hours (approx. 3–5 hrs/week), remote‑friendly with occasional in-person events.
Application Deadline: August 22, 2025, submissions must be emailed to the program directors.
Start Date: Fall 2025 term (exact start determined by student availability and orientation schedule).
Eligible to: Every student enrolled at WashU Law in 2L, 3L, LLM, or JSD status for the 2025–2026 year.
🎓 Fellowship Overview
Once selected, Fellows contribute to:
Newsletter and editorial work: Craft and curate original web content and newsletters highlighting WashU Law’s AI research and trends.
Continuing Legal Education (CLE) support: Assist with research, topic identification, and program logistics for CLE events on AI regulation, ethics, and policy.
Blog and thought‑leadership pieces: Write short articles on legal technology topics—such as generative AI, algorithmic fairness, and legal practice innovation.
Alumni and industry engagement: Help locate alumni working in AI law, coordinate interviews or guest spots, and support outreach events.
This design aims to give Fellows meaningful real-world experience in legal‑tech programming, publications, and professional networking.

✅ Who Qualifies
Must be a current 2L or 3L JD, LLM, or JSD candidate at WashU Law for the 2025‑26 academic year.
Demonstrated interest in AI, legal innovation, or ethics, along with strong writing and research skills.
No prior technical or programming experience is required. Instead, candidates should be intellectually curious, highly collaborative, and eager to help shape content and public programming.
