📘 Program Overview

The New Southbound Policy Elite Study Program at TMU is designed to nurture emerging talents from the Asia-Pacific region who are passionate about health sciences and interested in Taiwan’s advanced healthcare education system. Participants will engage in:

  • Medicine-focused coursework or laboratory training (11 hours/week)

  • Intensive Mandarin language classes (6 hours/week)

  • Cultural experiences and excursions to explore Taiwan's society and traditions


The program encourages academic excellence, professional growth, and international collaboration through a multicultural learning environment. All courses and activities are mandatory; full participation is required to maintain eligibility and benefits.

✅ Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible, applicants must:

  • Be a citizen of an eligible New Southbound country

  • Hold a bachelor’s degree or higher in a relevant field (biology, medicine, healthcare, data analysis)

  • Demonstrate English proficiency through one of the following:

    • TOEIC: 785

    • IELTS: 5.5

    • TOEFL iBT: 72

    • TOEFL ITP: 543

    • PTE: 50

  • Provide a bank statement showing a balance of at least USD 1,000

  • Not be receiving any other Taiwanese government or institutional scholarships

  • Interview Period: 7 – 11 July 2025Announcement of Results: 16 July 2025
