2025 University of Queensland Earmarked scholarships scheme for international students

Applications are now open from interested and eligible domestic and international students who wish to enrol in PhD degree program at University of Queensland in Australia for 2024/2025 academic year and are seeking a fully funded scholarship to cover their study expenses.

Earmarked scholarships are funded by the Australian Government to assist PhD students with their living costs and tuition fees. These scholarships offer PhD students the opportunity to contribute to large projects of national significance and work with leading researchers.

 

Embarked Scholarships Scheme Summary

• Enrolment status: Future UQ students

• Student Type: Domestic and International

• Study level: Postgraduate research (PhD)

• Study Area: All Study Areas

• Funding type: Living stipend, Tuition fees

• Scholarship value: Living stipend of $35,000 per annum tax free (indexed annually), your tuition fees covered, and Single Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC)

• Duration: 3.5 years with the possibility of 1 extension

 

Eligibility and Academic Requirements

You need one of the following approved degrees to apply for a PhD:


  • English language requirementsp: IELTS 7.0 for clinical studies, IELTS 6.5 for all other disciplines, alternatively a TOEFL (paper-based) score of 570.

  • Master of Philosophy (or another research master's degree); or

  • Bachelor's degree from an approved university with at least honours class IIA or equivalent; or

  • Coursework master's degree with an overall grade point average of 5.65 on the 7-point UQ scale which includes relevant research experience, approved by the dean; or

  • Postgraduate degree (at least one year full-time or equivalent) with an overall grade point average of 5 on the 7- point UQ scale, together with demonstrated research experience equivalent to honours class IIA will be considered on a case-by-case basis; or

  • Bachelor's degree plus at least 2 years of relevant research experience, including research publications.

  • Any specific requirements of the project.


 

Application Procedure

To apply for Embarked Scholarships Scheme at University of Queensland, follow below steps:


1). Choose an eligible project and contact the project supervisor to discuss your interest.

3). Start your application at the online application portal

4). In your application, under the 'Scholarship and Collaborative study' section, select:

  • ‘My higher degree is not collaborative’.

  • 'I am applying for, or have been awarded a scholarship or sponsorship'.

  • UQ Earmarked Scholarship type.


• Application Deadlines

  • For programs commencing January 2025, Apply By September 30, 2024

  • For Programs commencing April 2025, Apply by December 31, 2024
