📖 Scholarship Overview

The ATU Sports Scholarship Programme is designed to support student-athletes in balancing their academic pursuits with sporting commitments. The programme offers two categories:

  • Pre-Entry Scholarships: For prospective students applying to ATU.

  • Post-Entry Scholarships: For current ATU students demonstrating significant athletic achievements.


Recipients benefit from financial support and a range of non-financial benefits aimed at enhancing their athletic and academic experience.

🎁 Scholarship Benefits

Financial Support:

  • Tiered scholarships:

    • Gold: €3,000 per annum

    • Silver: €1,500 per annum

    • Bronze: €500 per annum


Non-Financial Support:

  • Free or reduced-rate access to sports facilities

  • Access to sports science and strength & conditioning services

  • Physiotherapy clinics

  • Academic support and flexible arrangements

  • Workshops in nutrition and psychology

  • Career and health support services

  • Official sports scholarship apparel

  • Support for national/international competition participation

✅ Eligibility Criteria

For Pre-Entry Applicants:

  • Must be applying for a full-time course at any ATU campus.

  • Demonstrate outstanding ability in a sport recognized by Sport Ireland.

  • Show potential to compete at provincial, national, or international levels.


For Post-Entry Applicants:

  • Currently enrolled full-time at any ATU campus.

  • Eligible for academic progression (e.g., from year 1 to year 2).

  • Active participation in a sport recognized by Sport Ireland; exceptions may apply.

  • Have represented the university in their chosen sport.

  • Demonstrated high achievement in their sport within the last year.


⚠️ Note: Scholarship recipients must reapply annually and maintain satisfactory academic and sporting performance for renewal.
