🧠 CBRAIN Internship Overview

The CBRAIN Internship Program is a three-month research training initiative hosted by the Centre for Brain Research (CBR) at IISc Bangalore. Designed for motivated students in life sciences, biotechnology, and medical streams, the program provides a solid foundation in basic science research, with an emphasis on brain aging and neurodegenerative disorders.

Interns will be mentored by CBR’s top-tier faculty and research scientists and trained in wet-lab techniques, data analysis, and experimental design. Each intern will work on a specific research project aligned with their area of interest, selected from a list of available topics. Participants will also be involved in collaborative lab activities, journal clubs, and seminars.

✅ Eligibility Criteria

To apply, candidates must:

  • Be in the pre-final or final year of a Bachelor’s (B.E./B.Tech/B.Sc) or Master’s (M.E./M.Tech/M.Sc) degree in Life Sciences or Biotechnology

  • OR be a medical student (MBBS/MD/MS/MDS/MPH) in pre-final or final year

  • Have a strong interest in neuroscience, aging, and research innovation

  • Be willing to commit to the full 3-month program (shorter terms not considered)

  • Be able to self-fund travel and accommodation (stipend is provided for living expenses)

  1. Apply online through the CBR website by May 19, 2025

  2. Complete the application form, including:

    • Personal and academic details

    • Selection of top 3 project topic preferences

    • A motivation statement describing your interest in the internship and how it fits your career goals

    • Referee contact details (letters not needed unless requested)

  3. Wait for results: Final selections will be announced on the CBR website by May 27, 2025

  4. Selected candidates must submit an official No Objection Certificate (NOC) from their department head

  5. Be prepared to engage in full-time research and submit a final report (and possibly a poster presentation) at the end of the program
