If you are an ambitious student, graduate, PhD candidate, or researcher seeking an opportunity to study or conduct research in Europe, the Czech Republic Government Scholarships (MEYS) 2025–2026 are now open. Administered by the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports (MEYS) of the Czech Republic, these scholarships are offered under bilateral intergovernmental exchange programmes with a number of partner countries.
The programme allows international students to undertake non-degree study, research visits, or in some cases full degree programmes (including PhDs) at public universities in the Czech Republic, with full tuition fee exemption and a monthly stipend. Read on for full details.

📚 Scholarship Overview
The MEYS Scholarships aim to promote educational and cultural exchange between the Czech Republic and its partner countries. They cover:
Non-degree study stays – students attend selected courses related to their academic field.
Research stays – for advanced students, PhD candidates, or academic staff to conduct supervised research.
Full degree enrolment (exceptional cases) – in Master’s or PhD programmes, subject to host university decision.

FAQ
1. Can I apply directly to the Czech Ministry (MEYS)?
No. Applications must be submitted through the designated authorities in your home country. Direct submissions are not accepted.
2. What is the duration of the scholarship?
Between 2 and 10 months, with the possibility of renewal upon re-application.
3. Do I need to speak Czech?
Most programmes are taught in Czech. Some English-medium courses are available, but only if the host university agrees to waive tuition.
4. Are PhD programmes eligible?
Yes, PhD enrolment is possible if the host university accepts the applicant.
5. Do the scholarships cover travel, insurance, or accommodation?
No. Travel and insurance are the applicant’s responsibility. Dormitory accommodation is available, but costs must be covered by the student.
6. Can academic staff also apply?
Yes, provided that the exchange programme with their home country includes this target group.
