About the Erasmus Mundus Joint Masters in Imaging

The EMJM in Imaging Programme is an advanced master's course designed to train the next generation of AI-driven imaging experts. The curriculum integrates fundamental imaging sciences with emerging technologies in machine learning and deep learning.


By the end of the program, graduates will have the skills to work on image processing, document classification, telepresence applications, augmented reality (AR), and virtual reality (VR), helping to shape the future of imaging across multiple industries.

This master's program is structured across three top universities in Europe, providing students with international exposure and multi-disciplinary expertise:


1. Politecnico di Milano (POLIMI), Italy – Strong focus on mathematical modeling and signal processing.


2. Mid Sweden University (MIUN), Sweden – Expertise in immersive imaging and telepresence technologies.


3. Tampere University (TAU), Finland – Specialized in AI-driven visual computing and data-intensive imaging.

Students follow a structured mobility plan, spending time at two or more universities depending on their chosen specialization:

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for the EMJM in Imaging Programme, applicants must meet the following requirements:


Academic Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in:

  • Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Information & Communication Technology, or related fields.

  • At least 30 ECTS in Mathematics (including linear algebra, probability, and statistics).

  • At least 60 ECTS in Computer Engineering, including object-oriented programming and either databases or signal/image processing.


English Language Requirements

Applicants must provide proof of English proficiency through one of the following:

  • TOEFL (CBT-210, IBT-78, PBT-547)

  • IELTS Academic (minimum 6.0)

  • Cambridge CPE or CAE (Grade C or higher)

  • English-Taught Degree from an EU/EEA country, USA, UK, Canada, Australia, or New Zealand


Other Requirements

  • Strong academic record and relevant experience in imaging or AI.

  • A well-written motivation letter outlining your career goals.

  • One recommendation letter from an academic or industry professional.

 

Application Procedure


  • Shortlisting: Eligible candidates will be shortlisted based on academic merit and selection criteria.


  • Final Selection: Shortlisted candidates must also apply to Politecnico di Milano for formal admission.


  • Results Announcement: Final selection results will be published in April 2025 (1st round) and June 2025 (2nd round).
