If you're a Nigerian journalist, researcher, or civil society professional passionate about leveraging technology for social change, the HumAngle Technology and Civic Impact Fellowship (HTCIF) Cohort II is now accepting applications. This program aims to empower civic actors to harness emerging technologies like AI, VR, and GIS to drive transparency, accountability, and human rights initiatives across Nigeria. Following a successful inaugural cohort in 2024, HTCIF returns to cultivate a new generation of tech-savvy changemakers.
📌 Fellowship Summary
Location: Abuja, Nigeria (in-person training); nationwide (project implementation)
Host Institution: HumAngle Foundation
Level: Mid-career professionals
Target Group: Nigerian journalists, researchers, civil society/non-profit professionals
Fields of Focus: Technology, civic engagement, journalism, advocacy, AI, VR, GIS

Duration: 3 months (plus 5-day in-person training)

Eligibility: Nigerian citizens aged 21–35 with at least 2 years of relevant experience
🧭 Fellowship Overview
HTCIF is structured into two phases:
In-Person Training: A 5-day intensive workshop in Abuja covering topics such as:
Opportunities for Research and Advocacy in AI
Introduction to Virtual Reality (VR)
Geographic Information Systems (GIS) for Storytelling
History, Trends, and Ethical Considerations in Generative AI
Technology for Policy Advocacy and Public Accountability
Information Warfare
Data for Civic Engagement
Tech Tools for Immersive Storytelling
Post-Training Project Phase: Over three months, fellows will implement a self-designed project that integrates technology to address issues related to accountability, human rights, transparency, or democracy. Projects should be innovative, feasible, and leverage the fellow's existing skills and networks.

✅ Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must:
Be Nigerian citizens aged between 21 and 35
Have a minimum of 2 years of experience in advocacy, technology, research, journalism, humanitarian work, or public policy
Demonstrate a track record of leveraging technology for social change
Have an interest in integrating AI and emerging technologies into their work
Women are especially encouraged to apply
