The Med-Or Italian Foundation Scholars Program offers two competitive scholarships for students pursuing the Master in Middle Eastern Studies at UCSC for the academic year 2025–2026.
🧩 Structure & Curriculum
The Master’s in Middle Eastern Studies (MIMES) is designed to provide students with an advanced understanding of political, social, economic, and cultural issues in the Middle East. Key program components include:
Courses in geopolitics, history, religion, economics, and international relations of the Middle East.
Seminars, workshops, and guest lectures by scholars and policy experts.
Fieldwork opportunities, internships, and case study research.
A final thesis project to demonstrate independent research skills.
The program is interdisciplinary and conducted entirely in English, making it accessible to international students.

Applicants must:
Be a Citizen or resident of Middle Eastern countries (Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Egypt, Libya, Turkey, Israel, Jordan, Iraq, Lebanon, Syria, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, UAE, Qatar, Oman, Palestinian National Authority)
Hold a bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification.
Be citizens or residents of one of the eligible Middle Eastern countries listed above.
Apply for the Master’s in Middle Eastern Studies program at UCSC.
Demonstrate strong academic performance and motivation to engage in Middle Eastern regional studies.
Note: Scholarship recipients must maintain satisfactory attendance (minimum 90%) and academic performance throughout the program, or funding may be withdrawn.
