If you are a student, researcher, or artist from Central and Eastern Europe, the Western Balkans, or the Eastern Partnership region, the International Visegrad Fund (IVF) offers a unique opportunity to advance your academic and professional journey. Applications are now open for the 2025–2026 academic year, providing fully funded and partial scholarships, fellowships, and grants across Slovakia, Czechia, Hungary, and Poland.
🎓 Scholarship Summary
Location: Slovakia, Czechia, Hungary, Poland
Host Institutions: Accredited public and private universities, research institutes, and the Open Society Archives (OSA)
Study Levels: Master's (1–4 semesters), Post-Master's/PhD (1–2 semesters), Independent Research (up to 2 months)
Target Group: Citizens of V4 countries (Czechia, Hungary, Poland, Slovakia), Western Balkans, and Eastern Partnership countries
Fields of Study: All academic disciplines, including arts, humanities, social sciences, natural sciences, engineering, education, youth development, culture, media, and performing arts
Value & Coverage:
Intra-Visegrad Scholarships: €3,500 per semester for the scholar, plus €2,000 per semester for the host institution
Out-Going Scholarships: €3,500 per semester for the scholar, plus €2,000 per semester for the host institution
In-Coming Scholarships: €3,500 per semester for the scholar, plus €2,000 per semester for the host institution
OSA Fellowships: €2,000 for a two-month research period, covering travel, accommodation, and subsistence
Award Duration: 1–4 semesters for Master's; 1–2 semesters for Post-Master's/PhD; up to 2 months for Independent Research
Application Deadlines:
Scholarships: April 15, 2025 (11:59 PM CET)
OSA Fellowships: November 15, 2025
Start Date: September 2025
🧭 Scholarship Overview
The IVF offers various programs to support academic mobility and research collaboration:
Visegrad Scholarship Programme (VSP): Supports Master's and Post-Master's students and researchers in all disciplines for up to two semesters at accredited institutions in V4 countries or eligible partner countries.
OSA Fellowships: Provides funding for scholars, journalists, and artists to conduct research at the Open Society Archives in Budapest, focusing on topics related to the Fund's priorities.
Visegrad Artist Residency Programme (VARP): Facilitates short-term residencies for visual artists, performers, writers, and musicians in V4 countries and the USA, promoting cultural exchange and collaboration.
