🌐 Challenge Overview
The Beyond the Algorithm Challenge aims to revolutionize flood analysis by leveraging unconventional computing architectures. Participants are tasked with developing solutions that improve the speed and accuracy of flood water analysis, utilizing methods such as:
Quantum computing
Quantum machine learning
Neuromorphic computing
In-memory computing
Hybrid approaches combining traditional and non-conventional computing
The challenge unfolds over three phases:
Phase One: Concept Development (March 19 – July 25, 2025)
Deliverables: A 5-page white paper and a 2–3 minute explanatory video
Outcome: Up to 10 finalists selected by August 15, 2025
Phase Two: Prototype and Pitch (August – September 2025)
Activities: Finalists submit code to GitHub (if applicable) and present at a live pitch event
Outcome: Up to 3 winners awarded $100,000 each
Phase Three: Post-Challenge Support (October 2025 – October 2026)
Support: "Funding 101" webinar and a follow-up interview to assess progress
