Obama Foundation Leaders Asia-Pacific Program 2025

Applications are now open for the prestigious Obama Foundation Leaders Asia-Pacific Programme for 2025 intake.

The Obama Foundation Leaders Asia-Pacific Program is a six-month, hybrid leadership development initiative designed to inspire, empower, and connect emerging leaders from across the Asia-Pacific region. Launched in 2019, the program equips participants with a values-based leadership framework to drive inclusive and lasting change in their communities and beyond. Through a series of workshops, coaching sessions, and interactions with prominent regional leaders, participants gain key tools to advance their leadership and impact.

 

Programme Structure and Benefits

Over the course of the six-month program, Leaders engage in 21 core sessions that run weekly on Saturdays for about 2-3 hours each.


The Asia-Pacific Obama Foundation Leadership Program offers several benefits to participants, including:


• Values-Based Leadership Training:

Participants receive training in a values-based leadership framework to drive inclusive and lasting change.

The program includes workshops on storytelling, understanding power dynamics, and communicating across differences, along with personalized coaching sessions.

Participants interact with prominent regional leaders and join a global network of alumni, fostering connections and collaborations.


• Hybrid Format:

The program is flexible, combining online and in-person sessions, making it accessible to a diverse group of emerging leaders.


• Personal Growth:

Through the program, participants gain a deeper understanding of their leadership style and develop key skills to advance their impact.


➢ The Asia-Pacific Obama Foundation Leadership Program is funded by the Obama Foundation, which covers all program-related expenses, including training materials, workshops, coaching sessions, and networking events. Participants do not need to worry about any costs associated with the program, making it accessible to a diverse group of emerging leaders from the Asia-Pacific region.

 

Location

The program currently invites individuals residing In Asia-Pacific Countries. You can find a complete list of participating countries on this official webpage.

 

Eligibility Criteria

The eligibility criteria for the Asia-Pacific Obama Foundation Leadership Program 2025 are as follows:


1. Location

Applicants must reside in an eligible Asia-Pacific nation or territory, such as American Samoa, Australia, Brunei, Cambodia, China, Fiji, and many others like mentioned above


2. Citizenship/Residency

Applicants must meet one of the following criteria:

  • Citizen of an eligible country or territory

  • Permanent resident of an eligible country or territory

  • Refugee or asylum seeker in an eligible Asia-Pacific nation or territory

  • Have lived in an eligible country or territory for at least the last 5 years, regardless of citizenship or permanent residence status


3. Geographic Focus

Applicants' work should be geographically focused on creating positive change for their local community, an eligible nation or territory, and/or the broader Asia-Pacific region.


4. Leadership Experience

Applicants should demonstrate at least 3 years of relevant experience in their issue area.


5. Age

Applicants must be between 24 and 45 years of age on on September 1, 2025.


6. Language Proficiency

Applicants must be professionally proficient in spoken and written English.


7. Commitment

Applicants must commit to fully participating in the entire six-month program, including attending 8-12 hours of required virtual programming each month, leadership coaching sessions, and community group discussions.


8. Political Campaigns

You will refrain from participating in an electoral campaign as a candidate for political office from the time you are accepted into the program through May 1, 2026. Selection decisions are currently scheduled to be sent out in June 2025.


9. Jurisdiction and Ability to Participate

Applicants must not have any legal or regulatory restrictions that would limit their participation in virtual Foundation programming or travel to the U.S. for in-person programming (if any).
