The organization offer various programs, including internships, scholarships, and research opportunities, to support talent development and impactful research projects.


The RISE-Globalink Research Internship (RISE-GRI) is a competitive initiative co-funded by MITACS and the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) that offers undergraduate students from Canadian universities the chance to participate in a research project supervised by a doctoral student at a German university or institution. It provides a unique opportunity to gain international research experience and enhance your academic and professional skills.

RISE-Globalink Research Internship (RISE-GRI) Key Details


• Organizing Body: MITACS, in collaboration with German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD).


• Target Audience: Undergraduate students from Canadian universities.


• Research Supervision: Projects supervised by doctoral students at German universities or institutions.


• Program Focus: Provides international research experience in (biology, chemistry, computer science, physics, earth sciences, or engineering).


• Eligibility: Open to students enrolled in Canadian universities, typically those in their second or third year of undergraduate study.


• Program Duration: a 12-week research internship.


• Financial Support: Includes travel funding, a living allowance, and health insurance.


• Application Deadline: 30 Nov. 2024

 

RISE-Globalink Research Internship (RISE-GRI) Benefits

  1. Mitacs provides $6,000 to support the student’s travel costs and living expenses.

  2. The DAAD provides health, accident, and liability insurance.

  3. The DAAD provides logistical support to selected students (including assistance finding accommodation in cooperation with mentors at the host institution, information on visas and work permits, and research arrangements).

 

Eligiblity Criteria

In order to be eligible for a RISE-GRI, a student must:

  1. Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or international student.

  2. Students with German citizenship must be able to prove that they have been living outside of Germany for six or more years.

  3. Be registered full-time undergraduate studies at a Canadian university in the field of biology, chemistry, computer science, physics, earth sciences, or engineering (or a closely related field), and remain as such during the RISE-GRI.

  4. Have completed at least two years in a four- or five-year undergraduate degree.

  5. Students in Quebec enrolled in a three-year undergraduate degree must have completed at least one year of their university program.

  6. Demonstrate oral and written fluency in English (working language is English).

  7. Meet all necessary travel requirements for the intended destination.

 

Application Procedure

Undergraduate students from Canadian universities who meet all the eligibility criteria must submit a completed application via the RISE Germany online application portal. Applications are open from October 15, 2024 until November 30, 2024.
