The TWAS-SN Bose Postgraduate Fellowship Programme is a collaborative initiative between The World Academy of Sciences (TWAS) and the S.N. Bose National Centre for Basic Sciences. It aims to provide young scientists from developing countries with the opportunity to pursue research leading to a PhD in the physical sciences.

Fellowships are tenable at the S.N. Bose National Centre for Basic Sciences in Kolkata, India, for studies leading towards a PhD degree. The programme offers two options:

  • Sandwich Option: Candidates are registered for a PhD in their home country and undertake part of their research at the S.N. Bose Centre.

  • Full-Time Option: Candidates enroll in a PhD programme at the S.N. Bose Centre.

In both cases, the programme entails only one journey to the host country. Admission to the PhD programme at the S.N. Bose Centre will depend on the successful completion of coursework (about one year's duration).
