🤓 Hackathon Summary

  • Event Name: UNESCO Youth Hackathon 2025 – Youth Leading the Way: Building MIL Solutions for Impact 

  • Organized Under: UNESCO’s Global Media and Information Literacy (MIL) Week

  • Target Group: Youth aged 18–30, forming teams of 3–6 members (national, regional, or international); no prior experience needed—only passion and motivation. Gender balance and inclusion are encouraged

    • Community Impact

    • Youth Engagement

    • Open Track (other MIL-related ideas)

  • Submission Formats: Games, apps/websites, podcasts/radio programs, short videos/documentaries, comics, educational toolkits, campaigns, community interventions, and other creative formats

  • Mentoring: Free online mentoring by global experts before submission

✅ Eligibility Criteria

  • Team of 3–6 members, ages 18–30 

  • Must uphold UNESCO’s values: peace, diversity, freedom of expression

  • Inclusive teams encouraged; prior experience not required—only enthusiasm and innovation

📝 Submission Requirements

  • Proposal Document (PDF or Word): Include team members, problem statement, objectives, concept or prototype, target audience, feasibility, creativity, sustainability

  • Pitch Video (max 3 minutes): Clearly present your idea, its significance, how it works, and its impact potential


📆 Timeline

  • Registration: 31 July – 15 August 2025

  • Mentoring Program: 19–20 August 2025

  • Submission Window: 8 August – 1 September 2025

  • Evaluation Period: 1 – 12 September 2025

  • Final Presentations: 23–24 October 2025, Cartagena, Colombia
