If you're a young changemaker passionate about driving local solutions to global challenges, the Youth Empowerment Fund (YEF) 2025 is now accepting applications. This initiative, a collaboration between the European Union (EU) and Global Youth Mobilization (GYM)—an effort led by the Big Six Youth Organizations—offers direct financial support to youth-led projects aimed at advancing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) within local communities.

Program Overview

The YEF aims to empower young people by providing financial resources to implement projects that contribute to the SDGs at the local level. A significant emphasis is placed on reaching under-represented and vulnerable communities, including those affected by socio-economic challenges, gender disparities, disabilities, and climate change. In the previous funding cycle, 56% of supported projects focused on SDG 13: Climate Action.

 

Benefits

  1. Access to Funding: Grants ranging from €500 to €1,500 for individuals and informal groups, and up to €5,000 for registered youth-led organizations.

  2. Capacity Building Opportunities: Successful applicants will have access to workshops, a community of youth experts, and guidance throughout their project implementation journey.

  3. Accelerator Program: Outstanding projects may be selected for an accelerator program, offering additional funding, access to a global youth leadership network, intensive training, and expert support to scale their initiatives.

 

Eligibility Criteria

  • Age: Applicants must be between 14 and 30 years old.

  • Application Categories: Young Individuals; Solo applicants, Informal Groups; Unregistered collectives of young people.

  • Registered Youth-Led Organizations: Officially registered entities led by youth.

  • Project Focus: Initiatives should address global challenges aligned with the SDGs, with special consideration for projects supporting under-represented and vulnerable communities or those tackling climate change and environmental sustainability.

 

Application Procedure

  • Prepare Your Proposal: Clearly outline the community challenge your project aims to address, its objectives, expected positive impacts, planned activities, team roles, and a detailed budget.



  • Submit Supporting Documents: Provide any necessary documentation to support your application, such as proof of organization registration (if applicable) and budget breakdowns.


  • Submit Before the Deadline: Ensure all materials are submitted by March 24, 2025, 23:59 CET.
