The Chung Hwa Rotary Educational Foundation is offering prestigious academic scholarships to international Master’s and Doctoral students enrolled in Taiwanese universities. Rooted in the spirit of Rotary service, the scholarship aims to promote education, research, and invention while fostering global understanding and friendship. Successful applicants will not only benefit financially but also join a supportive academic and cultural network in Taiwan.

📚 Scholarship Overview

The program supports young scholars pursuing advanced research in Taiwan while encouraging them to embody Rotary’s mission of service and peace. Beyond financial assistance, recipients are expected to actively engage with the sponsoring Rotary Club, attend events, and serve as cultural ambassadors. Scholars will present at least one talk or activity during the scholarship period and are required to submit study reports and impressions of Taiwan by the end of May 2026.


The scholarship is structured as a monthly disbursement:

  • January: Awarded at the Foundation’s anniversary ceremony

  • February: Distributed by the sponsoring Rotary Club

  • March: Disbursed at the official orientation

  • April–June: Monthly support via the sponsoring Rotary Club

✅ Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must:

  • Be enrolled as a Master’s or Doctoral student at a university in Taiwan

  • Be under 35 years old at the time of application

  • Not be a Rotarian, Rotarian’s direct descendant, or Rotaractor

  • Not hold another scholarship during the award period

  • Demonstrate academic excellence, leadership potential, and community engagement

📝 Application Procedure

  • Apply through your university’s Office of International Affairs; direct submissions to the Foundation will not be accepted

  • Register online at www.cref.org.tw, print the application, and submit it with all required documents

  1. Two completed application forms with recent photos

  2. Essays (typed, with Chinese translations recommended):

    • Autobiography (max 2 pages)

    • Statement of intent (max 3 pages, including study goals and career plans)

    • List of interests, activities, community service, and public speaking experience (max 1 page)

  3. Research proposal signed by thesis advisor

  4. Budget plan for scholarship use

  5. Academic transcript

  6. Recommendation letter from academic advisor/supervisor

  7. Recommendation letter from the university’s Office of International Affairs

  8. Proof of enrollment or valid student ID

  9. Copy of passport and ARC (Alien Resident Certificate)

  10. Two recent ID-sized photos
