The Chung Hwa Rotary Educational Foundation is offering prestigious academic scholarships to international Master’s and Doctoral students enrolled in Taiwanese universities. Value & Coverage:
NT$180,000 annually for Doctoral students
NT$135,000 annually for Master’s students
Covers tuition, books, accommodation, and living expenses
Duration: 1 academic year (July 2025 – June 2026)
Application Deadline: September 30, 2025 (per university notice) or October 20, 2025 (per Foundation guidelines)
Start Date: Scholarship disbursement begins January 2026
Eligible To: International Master’s and Doctoral students under 35 years old studying in Taiwan
📚 Scholarship Overview
The program supports young scholars pursuing advanced research in Taiwan while encouraging them to embody Rotary’s mission of service and peace. Beyond financial assistance, recipients are expected to actively engage with the sponsoring Rotary Club, attend events, and serve as cultural ambassadors. Scholars will present at least one talk or activity during the scholarship period and are required to submit study reports and impressions of Taiwan by the end of May 2026.
The scholarship is structured as a monthly disbursement:
January: Awarded at the Foundation’s anniversary ceremony
February: Distributed by the sponsoring Rotary Club
March: Disbursed at the official orientation
April–June: Monthly support via the sponsoring Rotary Club

✅ Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must:
Be enrolled as a Master’s or Doctoral student at a university in Taiwan
Be under 35 years old at the time of application
Not be a Rotarian, Rotarian’s direct descendant, or Rotaractor
Not hold another scholarship during the award period
Demonstrate academic excellence, leadership potential, and community engagement

Apply through your university’s Office of International Affairs; direct submissions to the Foundation will not be accepted
Register online at www.cref.org.tw, print the application, and submit it with all required documents

Two completed application forms with recent photos
Essays (typed, with Chinese translations recommended):
Autobiography (max 2 pages)
Statement of intent (max 3 pages, including study goals and career plans)
List of interests, activities, community service, and public speaking experience (max 1 page)
Research proposal signed by thesis advisor
Budget plan for scholarship use
Academic transcript
Recommendation letter from academic advisor/supervisor
Recommendation letter from the university’s Office of International Affairs
Proof of enrollment or valid student ID
Copy of passport and ARC (Alien Resident Certificate)
Two recent ID-sized photos
