🎓 Scholarship Overview

Established in 1982 to commemorate the 150th anniversary of Jardine Matheson, the Jardine Foundation provides educational opportunities to bright individuals in Asia. The scholarships aim to support scholars who exhibit academic excellence, leadership potential, and a deep commitment to serving their communities.

In collaboration with UGM, the Foundation offers two postgraduate scholarships annually for study at the University of Oxford or the University of Cambridge. Strong preference is given to applicants who gain admission to the following partner colleges:

  • University of Cambridge: Downing, Magdalene, Peterhouse, Trinity

  • University of Oxford: Exeter, Oriel, Queen’s, Trinity

The scholarships are awarded for up to four years, covering a wide range of Master’s and doctoral programs, depending on the candidate's academic background and goals.

The UGM-Jardine Scholarship provides a comprehensive package that includes:

  • Full university tuition fees (paid directly to the university)

  • College fees (paid directly to the college)

  • Annual living stipend (paid in three installments; the first installment is higher to support initial expenses)

  • UK Immigration Health Surcharge

  • Economy-class round-trip airfare from Indonesia to the UK

  • Mentoring and networking opportunities through the Jardine Foundation’s alumni and leadership platforms

✅ Eligibility Criteria

To be considered for the scholarship, candidates must:

  • Be alumni or academic staff of Universitas Gadjah Mada

  • Be nominated by UGM and pass their internal selection process

  • Hold or be in the process of completing a degree that qualifies them for admission to either Oxford or Cambridge

  • Be a national or legal resident of Indonesia, or retain strong ties with Indonesia if currently living abroad

  • Meet the English language proficiency requirements of the intended university

  • Demonstrate strong academic record, leadership experience, and active community involvement

📝 Application Procedure

  1. Prepare Documents: Gather and compile all required documents listed below.

  2. Register and Submit: Upload your complete application as a single PDF file via the UGM online portal by 20 June 2025.

  3. UGM Internal Selection: The Office of International Affairs (OIA) at UGM will evaluate applications and select nominees.

  4. Nomination to Jardine: Selected candidates will be officially nominated to the Jardine Foundation.

  5. University Application: Shortlisted candidates must independently apply to Oxford or Cambridge.

  6. Final Selection: The Jardine Foundation Selection Committee will make the final award decisions.
