This bursary supports motivated Namibians pursuing master’s or postgraduate degrees in critical fields that align with the Bank’s strategic mission and the nation’s developmental needs. 🎓 Bursary Summary

  • Location: Namibia or recognized universities in the SADC region

  • Host Institution: Recognised university (in Namibia or within SADC)

  • Study Level: Postgraduate / Master’s degree

  • Target Group: Namibian citizens (aged 40 or younger) holding an undergraduate degree

  • Fields of Study: Digital Forensics; ICT Policy & Regulation; Artificial Intelligence / Machine Learning; Econometrics / Financial Economics / Monetary Policy & Liquidity Management; Data Science / Data Engineering / Data Analytics; Industrial Engineering; Cybersecurity

  • Value & Coverage: Covers registration, tuition, accommodation, books, travel, living expenses (for the duration of the studies)

  • Duration: Duration of the postgraduate program (conditional on academic progress and contract terms)

  • Application Deadline: 31 October 2025

  • Start Date: As per university academic calendar

  • Eligible to: Namibian citizens under or equal to 40 years of age, holding an undergraduate degree



💲 Overview of the Programme

In line with its corporate social responsibility and capacity development goals, the Bank of Namibia’s Postgraduate Bursary aims to support Namibians who wish to pursue advanced studies in fields that bolster national economic growth, financial systems, and technological development.

The bursary is designed to:

  • Strengthen Namibia’s institutional capacity by funding postgraduate training in high-demand and strategic disciplines

  • Foster a pipeline of skilled professionals who can assume leadership, research, and technical roles in financial, regulatory, and technology sectors

  • Promote equitable access to advanced education for deserving candidates who might otherwise face financial barriers

Applicants may be selected through a competitive process involving evaluation of academic merit, motivation, financial need, and alignment of proposed study with national priorities.

Successful candidates must enter into a contract with the Bank before commencement of studies, committing to certain conditions (e.g. performance, reporting, possibly post-study obligations).


📚 Eligible Study Programs / Majors

The Bank of Namibia will fund postgraduate studies in the following priority areas:

  • Master’s in Digital Forensics

  • Master’s in ICT Policy & Regulation

  • Master’s in Artificial Intelligence / Machine Learning

  • Master’s / Postgraduate in Econometrics / Financial Economics / Monetary Policy & Liquidity Management

  • Master’s in Data Science / Data Engineering / Data Analytics

  • Master’s in Industrial Engineering

  • Master’s in Cybersecurity

Candidates should propose a course of study (including coursework and dissertation/research work) in one of these fields.



🎁 Benefits & What the Bursary Covers

The Bank of Namibia Postgraduate Bursary is comprehensive. The support may include (but is not necessarily limited to):

  • Tuition fees

  • Registration costs

  • Accommodation / housing

  • Books and study materials

  • Travel / transport costs

  • Living expenses (meals, subsistence)

  • Other study-related costs as approved

Because recipients enter into a formal contract, the Bank may stipulate conditions, such as maintaining a certain academic standard, submitting regular progress reports, and possibly serving in certain roles or contributing to Bank initiatives after graduation.


✅ Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must satisfy all of the following:

  1. Namibian citizenship

  2. Be 40 years of age or younger at time of application

  3. Hold a recognized undergraduate degree (in a relevant or acceptable field)

  4. Proposed study must fall within one of the preferred fields listed above

  5. Provisional acceptance / admission (or provisional offer) from a recognized university

  6. Academic transcripts and records demonstrating strong performance

  7. For those already enrolled, submission of an academic progress report

  8. Agree to enter into a bursary / funding contract with the Bank of Namibia upon selection

  9. Meet any other internal Bank selection requirements (e.g. motivation, alignment to national needs)

The Bank’s decision is final and discretionary.



📝 Application Procedure

  1. Obtain the official application (from the Bank of Namibia’s website or if not available, ask for it by email on: bursaries@bon.com.na

  2. Fill out the application fully and submit before the closing date: 31 October 2025.

  3. Ensure all required supporting documents are included.

  4. Shortlisted candidates may go through additional steps (e.g. interview).

  5. Final offers are issued after final review, and selected candidates must sign a funding contract before beginning studies.
