Empowering South Africa's Youth: NYDA's NPO Capacity Building Programme 2025

The National Youth Development Agency (NYDA) invites applications for its 2025 NPO Capacity Building Programme. This initiative aims to strengthen youth-led non-profit organizations across South Africa, fostering social cohesion, nation-building, and active citizenship.

🗒️ Programme Overview

Over a 10-month period, the NYDA will support 90 youth-led NPOs—10 from each of South Africa's nine provinces. Participants will receive training aligned with National Youth Service (NYS) norms and standards, along with tools and templates to design impactful social projects. The programme emphasizes collaboration with stakeholders to address governance and compliance challenges.


📉 Focus Areas

Applicants should propose projects addressing:

  • Education

  • Skills Development and Training

  • Sport, Arts, and Culture

  • Entrepreneurship

  • Human Rights

  • Gender Equality (GBV Prevention and Intervention)

  • Poverty Alleviation

  • Health and Wellbeing (HIV/AIDS, Primary Healthcare)

  • Drug and Substance Abuse Awareness

  • Youth in Conflict with the Law and Reintegration Services

  • Youth Living with Disabilities

  • Social Services Support

✅ Eligibility Criteria

To qualify, organizations must:

  1. Be 100% youth-led (members aged 18–35)

  2. Have been operational for 0–3 years

  3. Be South African citizens

  4. Operate within South Africa

  5. Focus on community and youth development programmes


Exclusions

The programme excludes:

  • Organizations previously part of this programme

  • Entities older than 3 years

  • Profit-making entities

  • Politically affiliated groups

  • Organizations posing reputational or compliance risks

  • Full-time state employees

  • Organizations not 100% youth-owned

📝 Application Requirements

Applications are done online by filling the online application form Submit a proposal including:

  • Executive Summary

  • Background

  • Problem Statement and Solutions

  • Beneficiaries

  • Business Structure

  • Financial Plan

  • Project Timeline


Attach the following documents in a ZIP file:

  • NPO Registration Certificate

  • Valid Tax Certificate (Pin Issued)

  • NPO Bank Account Details

  • Treasury Central Supply Database Report

  • One Testimonial/Trade Reference Letter

  • Certified ID Copies of Directors (within 6 months)

  • CVs of NPO Directors

  • Proof of Address (e.g., Tax and Rates Statement or Councillor/Tribal Authority Letter)


🗓️ Application Deadline

All applications must be submitted by April 18, 2025. Late submissions will not be considered.
