The Google Data Center Community AI Fellowship specifically targets leaders embedded within Google Data Center communities — local changemakers who understand their communities from the inside and are already building solutions from within. As Google's Global Head of Economic and Community Development for Data Centers noted, Google data centers are essential parts of local communities, fostering economic growth, technological advancement, and efficient infrastructure — and this fellowship is one of the most direct expressions of that commitment.
🧩 Fellowship Structure
The Google Data Center Community AI Fellowship is a 16-week intensive programme focused on building leadership capacity, AI skills, and entrepreneurial growth. It is tailored for individuals who are actively working on local solutions that improve livelihoods, create opportunities, and strengthen communities. This immersive phase establishes the cohort community, introduces core frameworks, and sets the foundation for the weeks ahead.
Phase 2 — Weekly Virtual Workshops (September through January)
Throughout the fellowship, participants attend virtual workshops every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, selecting one of two time slots: 8:00 AM to 10:00 AM MT or 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM MT. The total weekly time commitment is 8 to 10 hours, encompassing workshops, community building events, optional mentorship sessions, Basecamp planning, and Summit preparations.
Workshops cover four core pillars:
Leadership and AI Skills Training: Hands-on sessions on entrepreneurship, business acumen, and practical AI skills, led by expert practitioners with direct experience building community solutions
Financial Tools and Resources: Practical financial frameworks, tools, and workshops to strengthen each fellow's venture foundation, supported by Watson Institute's broader specialist network
Basecamps — Creating Lasting Impact: Each fellow designs and leads a 1-day community workshop for earlier-stage entrepreneurs. Training and a $1,000 community development stipend are provided to support planning and delivery
Pitch Training and Virtual Summit: Dedicated pitch coaching to sharpen storytelling and presentation skills, culminating in the Virtual Summit
Phase 3 — Virtual Summit (January 14, 2027)
The programme concludes with a live pitching and networking event where selected fellows present their local solutions to an audience of entrepreneurs, potential investors, corporate partners, and Google representatives. This summit is a genuine gateway to funding, visibility, and lasting partnership.
