ISTA Scientific Internships

If you are either pursuing or have obtained a bachelor’s or a master’s degree in the natural or computer sciences, mathematics or any related discipline, then you are eligible to apply for a scientific intern position at ISTA. A scientific intern can be appointed for a period of up to 1 year.

If you are passionate about scientific research and you are keen to expand your scientific research potentials, then an internship with the Institute of Science and Technology Austria (ISTA) can be a great step-stone for you.

 

Duration and Benefits

ISTA internships are year-round scientific internships for students pursuing or having obtained a bachelor's or master's degree in natural or computer sciences, mathematics, or related disciplines. So, you can apply anytime of the year.

As a scientific intern, you can be appointed for a period of up to 1 year. As an intern, you will receive a minimum salary of EUR 1,462 gross/month.

 

Application procedure



1). Identify which research group / scientist you’re most interested in working with. In order to find out about the range of research groups available, browse this overview of research groups or list of staff scientists.


2). Once you’ve found a research group you’d like to work with, email the research group leader / staff scientist directly, remembering to include:

  1. a short intro to your background, and your motivation to work with them

  2. an attached CV (in PDF format), listing relevant experience, education history

  3. possible dates for your internship (start date must be at least 2 months ahead)


3). If they are interested in hosting you as a scientific intern in their group, they or their assistant will be in touch with you for further steps and requesting further information about the online application portal.


• Timeline

Applications are accepted on a continuous basis, therefore there is no central deadline.

But, your registration in the application portal (step 3 in the application process) must be completed at least 2 month before your start date.
