If you're an ambitious African woman with dreams of pursuing postgraduate studies, the Learn Africa Scholarship Programme 2025–2026 is now open for applications!

With a legacy of empowering over 400 African women across 36 countries, the Learn Africa initiative—powered by the Women for Africa Foundation—is once again offering fully-funded and partially-funded opportunities for Master's and PhD studies. Whether your interest lies in cutting-edge disciplines like Computational Intelligence or global health challenges like Neglected Tropical Diseases, this scholarship offers a chance to study both online and in-person at top Spanish institutions.

🎓 Scholarship Summary

  • Location: Spain or online (depending on scholarship type)

  • Host Institutions: Multiple Spanish universities and research institutions

  • Study Level: Master's, PhD

  • Target Group: African women with a university degree or currently enrolled in an African university

  • Fields of Study: Veterinary Science, Computational Intelligence, Internet of Things, Regenerative Biology, Applied Psychology Research, and more

  • Coverage: Full or partial scholarships (details below)

  • Duration: Varies based on program (up to multi-year)

  • Application Deadline: April 30, 2025 (extended to May 8 for some programs)

Programme Overview

The Learn Africa Scholarships are designed to empower African women academically and professionally. This edition offers:


  • 68 new scholarships and 25 renewals

  • A record 5 PhD positions, including 2 funded by Universidad Alfonso X el Sabio

  • Over 36% of courses delivered in English or bilingual formats

  • Study modalities: in-person, online, and blended

  • New disciplines addressing global development issues

  • Scholarships supported by more than 60 partners including Universidad de La Laguna, GMV Innovating Solutions, and Anesvad Foundation


🧑🏻‍🎓Enrollment Period

  • Deadline: April 30, 2025, at 11:59 p.m. (Madrid time)

  • Extension for some scholarships: May 8, 2025, at 11:59 p.m. (Madrid time)


✅ General Requirements

  • Be a woman of African nationality and resident in an African country

  • Hold or be pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in an African university

  • Apply to only one scholarship

  • Meet specific academic and technical requirements of the chosen program

  • Possess language proficiency in the medium of instruction (typically B2 or C1 level)

  • Degree certificate(s) and academic transcript(s)

Scholarships 2025–2026

  • Open to Master’s and Doctoral programs

  • Majority start in late 2025 and span 1–3 years

  • Available in Spanish, English, or bilingual formats

  • Offered by top Spanish universities, research institutions, and private partners

For In-person Scholarships:

PLANETA Scholarships (for Moroccan women):

  • Tuition fees only

  • Travel, insurance, accommodation not covered

Not Covered (All Scholarships):

  • Visa processing

  • Internet or failed subject re-enrollments

  • Legalization/translation of degrees

  • Personal expenses or family support


How to Apply

  1. Prepare all required documents

  2. Visit Scholarships 2025–2026 page

  3. Choose your scholarship group:

    • General Learn Africa Scholarships

    • Scholarships exclusively for Moroccan women

  4. Review scholarship details and click Apply

  5. Register or log in to your account

  6. Complete the form and upload documents

  7. Submit application before the deadline

You will receive a confirmation on-screen and via email upon successful submission.

Evaluation Criteria

Applications will be evaluated based on:

  • CV and academic background

  • Motivation and reference letters

  • Language skills

  • Project proposal or concept note (if required)

Final selection is coordinated with host institutions. Only selected applicants will be contacted (by email or phone) and results published in June 2025.


⚠️Scholarship Acceptance and Obligations

  • Selected candidates must confirm acceptance within 7 working days

  • Failure to accept will result in reallocation of the scholarship

  • Withdrawal without valid reasons may result in a 2-year ban from future applications

  • Scholars must meet university and scholarship requirements


Key Considerations

  • Only one application per person

  • Ensure all documents are valid and ready beforehand

  • Selected candidates must legalize and translate their documents

  • Bring some savings for uncovered expenses
