🧭 Scholarship Overview

The Prof. Stefan Banach NAWA Scholarship Programme, coordinated by the Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange (NAWA) and funded by Poland’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, is part of the country’s development cooperation. It aims to elevate professional competencies in key sectors by supporting young talents from developing countries to pursue second-cycle (Master’s) studies in Poland, in either English or Polish.

You may opt for:

  • A one-year preparatory course in Polish followed by Master’s studies in Polish

  • Direct entry into Master’s programs conducted in either Polish or English

💰 Scholarship Benefits

  • Monthly Stipend: PLN 2,500 (approx. €580) to cover living costs during studies or preparatory course

  • Tuition-Free Education: Full exemption from tuition fees at Polish public universities or NAWA-approved prep centres

  • One-Time Travel Grant: Paid with the first scholarship installment to cover international travel to Poland

✅ Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible, applicants must:

  • Be a citizen of one of the eligible countries (including Nigeria, India, Rwanda, Indonesia, Ukraine, Vietnam, Brazil, etc.) see a list of all countries on this document

  • Not hold Polish citizenship and have not applied for it

  • Be in the final year of a Bachelor’s degree or have graduated in 2023 or later

  • Not have a prior Master’s degree or NAWA Banach scholarship

  • Demonstrate language proficiency:

    • B2 in English for programs in English

    • A2 or B2 in Polish for Polish-language paths (depending on whether you take the preparatory course)

🗂️ Application Procedure & Documents Required

All applications must be submitted online via NAWA’s IT system before the deadline.


📂 Required Documents:

  1. Valid passport scan

  2. Bachelor’s degree certificate (or final semester certificate if not yet graduated)

  3. Transcript of grades showing average and subjects

  4. Proof of language proficiency (B2 English or A2/B2 Polish)

  5. Confirmation of university application/admission in Poland (not required for those choosing the full Polish path with a prep course)

  6. Motivational video (1–3 minutes) explaining your academic goals, interest in Poland, and planned field of study

  7. Translations of documents if they are not in English or Polish (must be certified)


📝 Applications are evaluated based on:

  • Academic performance (up to 70 points)

  • Motivational video & clarity of purpose (up to 30 points)

  • Minimum total score required: 70 points (including at least 50 points in academics and 20 in motivation)
