YBCL Youth Futures Fund Program Summary

  • Location: United States (including Alaska and Hawaii), Puerto Rico, Guam, American Samoa, Northern Mariana Islands, U.S. Virgin Islands

  • Host Institution: People's Climate Innovation Center

  • Program Type: Community projects fund

  • Target Group: Young Black individuals aged 18-28

  • Areas of Focus: Climate justice, racial justice, environmental advocacy

  • Award Value: $2,000 to $10,000, depending on project phase

  • Award Duration: One year

  • Application Deadline: March 27, 2025

YBCL Youth Futures Fund Overview

The YBCL Youth Futures Fund aims to support young Black leaders who are actively working to dismantle systemic injustices and combat climate change. The fund emphasizes community-driven approaches, uplifting models of climate resistance, and regenerative practices rooted in creativity and transformative change.

 

Funding Levels

  • Soil: $2,000 for projects in the "idea" phase needing initial support

  • Seed: $6,000 for projects beyond the idea phase requiring growth support

  • Water: $8,000 for established projects aiming to expand impact

  • Grow: $10,000 for well-established projects seeking further scalability

  • Inclusion in a vibrant network of Black climate leaders

 

Eligibility Criteria

  1. Identify as Black, African, Afro-Latinx, or part of the Afro-Indigenous diaspora

  2. Be based and implement their project in the specified locations

  3. Be aged 18-28 (okay to turn 18 by July 1 or 29 during the project)

  4. Be available for a Zoom interview between May 7 and May 16, 2025, if needed

 

Application Procedure

  1. Complete the online application form by March 27, 2025.

  2. Prepare to discuss your project during a potential Zoom interview.
